The Wolverines have secured the commitment of another prospect in the 2027 class, this time being an in-state recruit in four-star edge rusher Recarder Kitchen.
The 6-foot-6, 240-pounder is from the west side of the state and plays at Muskegon High School. He has been a top target for Michigan in this class for a long time, as the Wolverines offered him in Sept. 2024. He has visited multiple times, including for The Game against Ohio State on Saturday.

“The relationship is strong with them every time,” Kitchen told 247Sports’ Allen Trieu back in October ($). “Like even when I’m not there, I’m always getting checked up by all the coaches. Like coach (Sherrone) Moore texts me a lot. Coach (Lou) Espo texts me a lot. It’s just, it’s love every time. And when I was there, soon as I got there, I went to talk to coach Moore. Coach Espo came and checked on me. Then after the game on the way home, they text me making sure I got home and everything.”
Kitchen is now the first defensive recruit and the fourth overall recruit to commit to Michigan’s 2027 class. He joins four-star quarterback Peter Bourque, and three-star offensive linemen Tristan Dare and Louis Esposito.
Aside from Michigan, Kitchen also earned offers from the likes of USC, Notre Dame, Penn State, Wisconsin, Illinois, Texas A&M, Louisville, Michigan State, Indiana, Iowa State, Tennessee, Pitt and more.
