The 2025 NFL draft running back class was loaded with talent, seeing several high-profile names taken early and often, but the Chicago Bears didn't add to their running back room until the seventh round of the draft with Rutgers' Kyle Monangai, the Big Ten's rushing leader in 2024, in what looked like a roll of the dice.
Those dice have since come up as big winners as Monangai has worked his way up the Bears depth chart and earned a significant role as the complementary back to veteran D'Andre Swift. Head coach Ben Johnson has utilized Swift and Monangai as a two-headed monster at running back, and they came up big against the Philadelphia Eagles combining for 255 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

In a loaded draft class, the Bears seemed to have found a diamond in the rough at the running back position who fits incredibly well in Johnson's offensive scheme. The rookie running back runs with a chip on his shoulder and is great between the tackles, giving more of a smash mouth identity to the Bears dynamic offense.
