The LSU Tigers had a chance to derail the Oklahoma Sooners' College Football Playoff hopes on Saturday night, but they did not as the Sooners held on for a 17-13 victory.
The Tigers will finish the regular season at 7-5 and can finally start to move on from this season that saw them fire Brian Kelly, putting an end to this current era of LSU football.

Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer has been widely regarded as one of the best passers in the country. This LSU defense forced him to throw three interceptions.
It was three star Tigers defenders that turned him over in Harold Perkins, AJ Haulcy and the five-star freshman DJ Pickett.
LSU's defense really had just one lapse and it ended up costing them the game. There was a coverage breakdown that led to the go-ahead 58-yard Sooners tochdown.

One of the craziest statistics of the game was that at halftime, LSU's leading passer was wide receiver Zavion Thomas. Thomas had completed one pass for 17 yards and that was enough to finish above quarterback Michael Van Buren Jr. for the first half.
At time over these last couple of weeks, trick plays have been the only way to gain chunk yardage for this offense.
Van Buren finished 14-of-25 for just 96 yards for a touchdown and an interception. The play calling did him no favors, but his accuracy was inconsistent throughout the game.

No matter the poor performance on the field, nothing really changes for LSU now.
The team and its fanbase will now just sit back and wait to hear what happens with Lane Kiffin for the rest of Saturday night.
