Vincent Kompany lauds Bayern Munich’s grit after tight 3-1 win over St. Paul

Bayern Munich seemed to have a game that channeled lyrics from Coldplay’s “The Scientist” as the squad fought like hell to pull out a 3-1 victory over a pesky St. Pauli:

Nobody said it was easyNo one ever said it would be this hard

Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany could relate to those words, but indicated that he loved the grit and resilience shown by his team during the triumph.

“Such hard-fought wins are part of a season. That gives us confidence in the future that we can win in such situations. Compliments to the boys that they kept going and believed in themselves. We need that over the course of the season,” said Kompany (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).

Heart and fight are great things, but getting off to a good start in games would lessen the reliance on those attributes. Hopefully, Bayern Munich can get out to an early lead vs. Union Berlin on Wednesday in the DFB-Pokal.
