Philadelphia 76ers coach Nick Nurse said the team is hopeful that rookie VJ Edgecombe can return sooner rather than later from a calf injury that has sidelined him for the past three games.
Edgecombe began experiencing some tightness in his left calf late during their overtime victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Nov. 20. Nurse said earlier this week that the injury isn't considered serious after imaging tests came back clean.

"He is getting on the court and getting some workouts in individually," Nurse said on Friday. "He hasn't done any team stuff yet, but I think he is doing OK with his on-court workouts and hopefully trending upward quickly."
Edgecombe is averaging 15.6 points, six rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.3 steals on 36.6% shooting from 3-point range in 15 appearances. He ranks third in rookie scoring and is one of four first-year players to score at least 30 points in a game this season.
The 20-year-old has fit in nicely with the Sixers, forming a lethal scoring duo with Tyrese Maxey. In fact, in their season debut on Oct. 22, they became the first backcourt pairing in franchise history to both score at least 34 points in the same game.
