Steam is a massive juggernaut at this point, and it can be tricky to navigate. Hundreds of games come out every month, and wading through all the noise can be daunting, to the point that many people miss some of the best experiences on the service.

Thankfully, that's where curation comes in. The Steam 250 list manages to capture all the best games according to Steam reviews, and the number one spot shouldn't come as much of a surprise.

Stardew Valley is Steam's Best Rated Game Of All Time

I'm Not Shocked

Roughly eight years ago, the "Top 250 games on Steam" list was created, fully powered by player ratings, pulling data from Steam and updated daily. It's an open-source project that anyone can use, which makes it all the more special because the results are as plain as day. Stardew Valley smashes the top spot, with 98% positive reviews from 949,572 gamers.

Stardew Valley is in good company, surrounded by a few indies, as well as massive heavy-hitters from Valve. It's no surprise that Portal, Portal 2, and Left 4 Dead 2 are high up on Valve's own platform, but it just makes the Stardew win all the more special.

Stardew Valley More Than Deserves The Love

It's One Of Gaming's Greatest Success Stories

Having played Stardew Valley for hundreds of hours, both solo and with friends and family, it's obvious why the game has resonated with so many people. It's not just a "cozy game" (although that's a massive part of its appeal). It also has a lot of old-school sensibilities, to the point where the most hardcore and casual fans can engage with it however they want, and both come out of any given session with a smile on their face.

Developer ConcernedApe has also tirelessly been a steward of the game, adding more and more content as years go on. Stardew Valley will go down in history as one of the best games of all time, and in many circles, it's already there. It's the kind of experience I like to call a "lifestyle game," as you can play it indefinitely and still discover new tidbits and experiences years later.
