The New York Knicks will be in the market for wing depth ahead of this season’s trade deadline. Recently, a former lottery pick has been linked in connection with the Knicks.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementUtah Jazz forward Taylor Hendricks has been linked as a candidate for a trade to the Knicks by Anthony Rios of Knicks on SI. Hendricks was the 9th overall pick by the Jazz in the 2023 NBA Draft, and now sees himself flying on the Knicks’ radar.
Rios presented Pacome Dadiet, and Guerschon Yabusele as potential trade chips for Hendricks. The former lottery pick has been largely taken out of the Jazz’s rotation, but has flashed potential as a versatile forward that can space the floor. In his career, Hendricks is averaging 6.5 points per game and shooting 36 percent from three-point range.
“The second unit in New York lacks size and forwards that are ready to contribute to winning basketball immediately,” Rios said. “Hendricks would not have the pressure of playing like a lottery pick for the team that drafted him, rather could be a major role player on a contending team. Hendricks still has two years remaining on his rookie deal, which means he would not be a rental.”
The Knicks will survey their options ahead of the trade deadline as they look to make all the moves necessary to compete for a championship this season.
