Aledo is no stranger to making deep postseason runs.

Fort Worth Arlington Heights, on the other hand, is in uncharted territory but seeking to continue its remarkable season.

The Yellowjackets get that chance Friday afternoon as they face the vaunted Bearcats in the Texas UIL 5A Division I regional semifinals, taking place at Crowley ISD Stadium in Fort Worth.

Arlington Heights comes in at 11-1, coming off a bi-district win against Fort Worth Brewer and then downing Lubbock Monterey, 56-41, last week in the area round. The Yellowjackets won in the area round for the first time since 1973.

Now, they attempt to take down perennial power Aledo, which has won a UIL record 12 state championships. But the Bearcats missed out on a trip to the title game last season, and they’re eager to get back to Arlington, as they come in at 12-0.

Before Aledo’s 42-0 win against Amarillo Tascosa in the area round, the Bearcats had scored at least 72 points in their four previous contests.

The Aledo-Arlington Heights winner advances to next week 5A DI Region I final against the winner of Richland and Denton Ryan, which faces off later Friday in Coppell.

- FIELD GOAL ALEDO. Bearcats advance into Arlington Heights territory before the drive stalls. Peyton Shaffer, however, connects on a 39-yard try and Aledo is on the board. (Aledo, 3-0 | 5:17, 1st) 

- Arlington Heights reaches midfield before the drive stalls and the Yellowjackets punt it away. Aledo will be on offense for the first time.

- Arlington Heights wins the toss and elects to receive.
