The Los Angeles Rams committed to Harrison Mevis as their kicker last week when they signed him to the active roster from the practice squad, and now they’ve doubled down on the move.
The team on Friday announced it has waived Joshua Karty. The Rams selected Karty in the sixth-round of the 2024 draft, picking the Stanford kicker 209th overall. He was the second kicker drafted, going six picks after the Vikings took Will Reichard.

He had several kicks blocked, including two against the Philadelphia Eagles in a Week 3 loss. Though the misses weren’t completely his fault, he was clearly struggling with his accuracy and technique.
Mevis is now the only kicker on the 53-man roster, but it’s still possible the Rams will bring back Karty by signing him to the practice squad. Sean McVay said weeks ago that he still feels confident Karty has a “really bright future,” so the Rams may not be ready to fully move on yet.
