The Buffalo Bills lost to the Houston Texans on Thursday night, and for the second straight week, wide receiver Keon Coleman wasn't on the field even though he was healthy.

Last Sunday, Coleman was benched for being late to a team meeting, marking the third time he had been docked for tardiness within a month. But with a short turnaround on Thursday, head coach Sean McDermott decided to keep his second-year pass-catcher on the bench.

McDermott was asked about the Coleman situation after the game, and he didn't really provide much of an answer.

“Nothing new, we’re just taking it one day at a time right now,” McDermott told reporters. “I thought he had a better week, and we’ll move forward one day at a time.”

So for how long is Coleman going to be in the doghouse? Did he do something else this week? Did he not do enough to clear himself with McDermott?

Keon Coleman, Buffalo Bills...

Whatever the case may be, it's obvious that the Bills are not happy with Coleman, and the fact that McDermott has chosen to keep him inactive for two pivotal games in a row just goes to show exactly what the team thinks of him.

In nine games this season, Coleman has logged 32 catches for 330 yards and three touchdowns, averaging a pedestrian 10.3 yards per catch. During his rookie campaign last year, the 22-year-old snared 29 balls for 556 yards and four scores, demonstrating considerably more explosiveness with 19.2 yards per grab.

Coleman was selected by Buffalo in the second round of the NFL Draft when the Bills could have had Ladd McConkey at that spot (No. 33 overall). They elected to go with Coleman, who had hauled in 50 receptions for 658 yards and 11 touchdowns at Florida State the season prior.

Buffalo chose not to acquire a wide receiver at the trade deadline, a decision that is now clearly haunting the squad as the playoffs inch closer and closer.

It definitely doesn't seem like Coleman is going to have a breakthrough year for the Bills in 2025.
