Ghilardi on his first Roma start: “I was quite excited.”

Daniele Ghilardi made a winning debut for the Giallorossi.

The defender, who arrived in the summer from Hellas Verona, started for the first time in the victory against Midtjylland.

It was a good performance for the 2003-born player, who later expressed his joy at his debut: “I’m very happy, I was also quite excited. I’m happy it went this way, more for the team’s performance than for my personal one.”

Roma have been chasing the Europa League trophy since losing the final in Budapest. Their goal is to reach the final, and Ghilardi confirmed this in the mixed zone after the victory against Midtjylland.

“We don’t talk about it, but that’s the goal. We’re Roma, and we have to play to win. We can’t think of playing to get into one position rather than another. We always give our all to win.”
