Amazon has removed the most controversial James Bond movies from streaming without warning. All the James Bond movies had found a home on Prime Video of late, which wasn’t surprising considering Amazon’s acquisition of the franchise earlier this year. Prime Video has since announced that all the James Bond movies will leave the platform and begin streaming for free on Pluto TV next month, but one of the films has made its exit earlier than the others. No Time to Die, which stars Daniel Craig as 007 and is widely viewed as the most controversial Bond movie, is no longer streaming on Prime Video, though the rest of Craig’s Bond movies still are.

The ending of No Time to Die is what led to it being considered the most controversial James Bond movie. It marked the first time James Bond died in an Eon film, a choice Craig has confirmed was deliberate. Having James Bond die at the end of No Time to Die allowed the character to have a definitive ending, and it also kept Daniel Craig from being asked about a potential return for the rest of his life. However, the choice to kill James Bond at the end of the latest movie is reportedly holding up development on the next Amazon-backed installment for 007.

Still, despite the controversial reception to the ending of No Time to Die, the film was still a massive commercial success. It grossed $774 million at the global box office against a $250 million budget. In addition to Daniel Craig as James Bond, the film also stars Léa Seydoux as Madeleine, Rami Malek as Lyutfiser Safin, Lashana Lynch as Nomi, Ralph Fiennes as M, and Ana de Armas as Paloma. Christoph Waltz also returned as Blofeld.

What’s Happening With the Next James Bond Movie?

The next James Bond movie is in early development at Amazon with Steven Knight writing the script and Denis Villeneuve tapped to direct. The duo is likely working on the story now, and Villeneuve has confirmed that casting won’t begin until he’s done with work on Dune: Part Three, which recently wrapped filming ahead of its December 18, 2026, release date. While no names have been officially announced, it’s been reported that Amazon is looking away from favorites such as Henry Cavill and Idris Elba and towards younger stars as the next James Bond.

Watch No Time to Die now for free on Pluto TV and stay tuned to Collider for more streaming updates and coverage of the James Bond franchise.
