The Missouri Tigers have their head football coach for the long term. According to multiple reports, Mizzou and Eli Drinkwitz have agreed to a six-year contract extension through 2031. The news was first reported by ESPN’s Pete Thamel this morning.
It was later officially announced by Mizzou Athletics with a statement from athletic director Laird Veatch and Drinkwitz himself.
Despite being rumored to be a candidate at multiple job openings like Penn State, Florida, and LSU, Missouri was able to make a commitment with Eli Drinkwitz — making him one of the highest paid coaches in all of college football.

The Tigers are also closing in on a third consecutive Top 25 recruiting class. Mizzou accomplished back-to-back 10-win seasons in 2023-2024 for the first time since 2013-2014 which was highlighted by a New Year’s Six Cotton Bowl victory over Ohio State.
The Tigers are 7-4 (3-4 SEC) in 2025 and will close out the regular season in the Battle Line Rivalry on Saturday at Arkansas (2:30 p.m. CST on SEC Network).
In the postseason, Missouri will be looking for their third bowl win in three straight seasons which has never been done before in program history.
