The Night Agent season 4 has received a very exciting filming update as the Netflix action thriller TV show awaits confirmation of its renewal. Following the success of its debut season, Netflix renewed the high-octane drama for two additional seasons. While The Night Agent season 3 has yet to release, filming for the upcoming episodes concluded back in July 2025.
Now, Deadline reports that The Night Agent has snagged a 40% California tax credit of $31.6 million to film season 4 in Los Angeles. This comes despite Netflix not having officially renewed the show for season 4. However, with this tax credit, coupled with a writers room already established, it seems the future of the show may be secure.
The Night Agent season 1 filmed in Vancouver, while the majority of seasons 2 and 3 were filmed in New York City. According to the report, the plan had always been for season 4 of the show to be set in LA, should the series have gotten a tax credit. Now that is had, it seems more likely than ever.

The Night Agent season 2 ended on a major cliffhanger, promising to continue a major storyline into season 3. The upcoming episodes will feature some key shake-ups, notably that Luciane Buchanan will not be returning as Rose Larkin. As for season 4, given the third season has yet to be released, there's no word on what it'll be about.
The LA-based setting for season 4 will be a return to form for creator Shawn Ryan, whose notable TV shows The Shield, The Unit, and S.W.A.T. Team all filmed in the city. Although it's unclear what will be sending Gabriel Basso's Peter Sutherland to California, there appears to be a concrete plan regarding the show's move to the West Coast.
As of writing, season 3 does not have a release date, though it's expected to arrive sometime in 2026. The Night Agent cast will be expanding in season 3 as well, adding David Lyons, Jennifer Morrison, Stephen Moyer, Genesis Rodriguez, and Callum Vinson as series regulars in undisclosed roles. Other familiar faces for season 2 will be carrying over as well.
Although there's no confirmation that The Night Agent season 4 has been renewed, this tax credit all but confirms Netflix plans to go ahead with the upcoming season. Whether an official announcement will be made before or after season 3 remains to be seen. But, with the series' tax credit secured, it seems bound to happen either way.
