Halo Fans Demand The Return Of Iconic Arbiter In Next Game

Halo Infinite was the last time Master Chief rode out and took out the Covenant in a mainstream entry, but fans want a big wishlist item.

For some fans, Halo has lost its way. Although the original trilogy had a chokehold on popular culture, some subsequent entries haven't garnered nearly as much cultural cachet. Many fans would be hard-pressed to recite from memory what happens in Halo Infinite, for example.

Some fans over on Reddit have a surefire idea of how to win people back, though, in a big way. It involves a bit of nostalgia, but on paper, it works.

Halo Fans Want Two Unlikely Allies To Reunite

It's Time To Go Back To Halo's Roots

Halo's Arbiter, voiced by the incomparable Keith David, made a major splash in the series with Halo 2. As a playable Covenant character, the Arbiter was instantly beloved and had a significant presence throughout the original trilogy's narrative. Cleverly, the events of the first game inform the Arbiter's story, and why he was seen as disgraced within the Covenant faction.

We spent the entire first game fighting the Covenant directly, so seeing another side of them blew everyone's minds at the time, and sucked fans further into the Halo universe. Keith David's performance as the Arbiter helped cement the character in Halo lore, but he was also just handled well in general.

His goals were clear, his power set mixed well when paired up with Master Chief, making them fun, unlikely allies.

Fans are keen to see the Arbiter return, too, and some of them are even confused at how he didn't come back in Halo Infinite. As pharoahc puts it: "We never got Halo 6. We got Halo infinite. Halo 6 I'm sure would have included Chief, arbiter, and blue team. But they changed course dramatically. And for the worse I believe. I wanted to see the Cortana and created story play out."

EchoLoco2 reminds us that Keith David has expressed interest in returning to the Halo series, and MajorZepyhr expresses their love for the character: "The Arbiter is the single best character in all of Halo, and it's criminal how little attention he and the ally Elites have gotten in general since the end of Halo 3."

Halo 3 - Key Art

Halo 3 was the end of the major collaboration between Master Chief (John-117) and the Arbiter (Thel 'Vadam), but they met briefly again after the events of Halo 5, through the book Halo: Bad Blood. That's basically all we've gotten so far beyond the original trilogy, and very few details about that meeting are provided by design. We're mostly in the dark on the Arbiter at this point, as he didn't even show up in Infinite.

Right now, Halo fans are mainly wondering what is going on with the once iconic franchise. We're getting another re-release of the first Halo, but anything after that is up in the air. Maybe the Arbiter can help save the franchise when the time comes.
