Oklahoma State is expected to hire North Texas head coach Eric Morris as its next football coach, Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger confirmed on Tuesday.
ESPN first reported the news.
Morris, 40, has been the head coach at North Texas for three seasons. He's led the Mean Green to a 10-1 record this season following 5-7 and 6-7 campaigns in his first two seasons. North Texas has a shot at making the College Football Playoff as the highest-ranked Group of 5 team.

If so, Morris would be the first coach to coach in the CFP to have another college job lined up. UNT is in first place in the AAC has one remaining game against Temple on its regular-season schedule.
Morris will take over at Oklahoma for interim head coach Doug Meacham, who replaced longtime head coach Mike Gundy midseason. Oklahoma State fired Gundy in September following a 1-2 start. Gundy was in his 21st season as head coach at the time of his dismissal after taking the job in 2005.
