Vinson & Elkins Advises Global Sports Capital Partners in Mexican Football League

Vinson & Elkins said it advised Michael MacDougall, Founder and Managing Partner of Global Sports Capital Partners and its affiliates in its investment in Liga de Fútbol Americano (LFA), México’s premier professional American football league.

The company will allocate growth capital for at least seven years and its combined investment with this league is expected to reach over US$100 million, it stated.

México is the NFL’s largest international market and this funding represents the first U.S. private equity investment in a Mexican sports league, the company said.

“This is more than an investment in a league; it’s an investment in the future of México and in the growth of American football as a global game,” said Michael MacDougall, Founder and Managing Partner of Global Sports Capital Partners. “The LFA has all the right ingredients: a huge base of incredible fans, committed local ownership and big ambitions to grow.”
