Everton midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye has apologized to his teammate Michael Keane, as well as the rest of the club and the fans too after getting sent off in the Toffees win at Old Trafford tonight.

Barely a dozen minutes into the game, a miscommunication between the pair resulted in a shooting chance for Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes. The two Everton players shared some heated words, with Keane then pushing a confrontational Gana away, with the Senegal international then slapping the defender. The pushing and shoving continued as their Everton teammates then got involved in trying to separate them.

Referee Tony Harrington, who was barely a few yards away immediately brandished a red card at Gueye which only got the midfielder even more incensed, who was livid even as he walked off the pitch into the tunnel.

That left the Toffees down to ten-men for the majority of the game, but a goal from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was enough to pull off a famous 1-0 win at Old Trafford. That was the Blues first victory away at the Theatre of Dreams in twelve years, coincidentally when Moyes was the embattled manager at the Red Devils.

For his part, Gueye was quick to issue an apology very soon after the game.
