Georgia backup offensive lineman Nyier Daniels has been dismissed from the program by coach Kirby Smart, according to a report by ESPN.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThis comes after an incident in which he allegedly drove over 150 mph while attempting to flee from police and was subsequently arrested.
Smart announced Monday that Daniels is no longer with the team, saying he hadn’t yet spoken with the player or his family.
"Have not had a chance to talk to him or his family, but obviously he will no longer be with us," Smart told reporters during a press conference Monday.
Daniels faces multiple felony charges, including two counts of second-degree cruelty to children and two counts of fleeing law enforcement, in addition to 10 traffic-related misdemeanors such as reckless driving, according to the report. A UGA athletics department official helped Daniels turn himself into police.
