The Dallas Cowboys pulled off a massive comeback, scoring 24 unanswered points to beat the Philadelphia Eagles 24-21. A big reason for their comeback was due to George Pickens, who racked up 146 yards and one touchdown.

Through 11 games, Pickens is already at 1,054 yards and eight touchdowns on the year, and all signs should be pointing to the Cowboys signing him to a long-term contract. However, it appears that Jerry Jones is just confusing everyone regarding an update on the star receiver remaining in Dallas past 2025.

Pickens did get some time to elevate his game while CeeDee Lamb was injured, but the pair now form one of the best receiving duos in the league. With Lamb signed through the 2027 season and quarterback Dak Prescott signed through the 2028 season, it would make sense for Jones to lock in Pickens.

The trio could help propel the Cowboys to a playoff berth in 2025 and beyond. Considering the huge emergence of Pickens, Jones was asked about whether a long-term contract has been discussed. Naturally, his response was confusing.

Per The Athletic's Jon Machota, Jones spoke about how incredible Pickens has been, but he danced around the question regarding a contract extension.

"We are proud we've got him and I don't know of anyone that has helped his team any more to win this year," Jones said of Pickens.

When Machota asked about a long-term deal, Jones offered some "coach speak" regarding the answer.

"Of course, of course, we are proud to have him and I don't even want to play games with it, we'd love to have him on the team," Jones said.

"I don't just try to spend my day messing with agents as you well know. (laughing) I'm proud he's having the season he's having. It exceeds anything we could have hoped for," Jones added.

It appears that Jones is definitely pleased with how Pickens has performed in 2025. Anybody would be the same, considering he is over the 1,000 receiving yard mark and there are still five games left to play.

Granted, the Cowboys' focus might be on winning games to get into the playoffs, but discussing a long-term deal in-season is not that wild. Jones is often a bit tough to deal with when discussing contract issues, which is what led to a long holdout from Lamb, so this could be a similar situation.

Pickens should get a long-term deal. If not before the season wraps up, then definitely to start the 2026 offseason. Regardless of when Jones does it, it would be foolish for him not to bring in the former Pittsburgh Steelers star for multiple years.
