Barrow midfielder MJ Williams is calling on his team-mates to "stay positive" as they build up for a game with bottom side Newport County.

A 2-0 home loss to Cambridge United made it successive defeats for Barrow after their seven-match unbeaten league run came to an end.

It leaves Andy Whing's team 17th in League Two and only four points above the relegation spots ahead of their trip to south Wales.

"We haven't won in four games now, but it's important we stay positive," Williams told BBC Radio Cumbria. "It's hard for everyone but we have to do it."

Barrow began the season with six losses in eight matches, but looked to have been pulling away from trouble with their unbeaten run.

Williams knows the importance of the Newport game and making sure the Bluebirds can get on another good streak.

"It's a massive week for us," he added. "The league is very tight, we've had an unbeaten run but we were still 15th.

"Football can change quickly, so we've got to get back winning."
