Roberto De Zerbi rules out Nayef Aguerd from Newcastle clash & confirms Facundo Medina setback

At a press conference attended by Get French Football News at Marseille’s Stade Vélodrome, Roberto De Zerbi has confirmed that defender Nayef Aguerd (29) will be forfeit for Les Phocéens’ clash against Newcastle United in Tuesday’s Champions League clash.

“He won’t be available, whether we play in a four, five, seven or ten at the back – he won’t be playing,” said the Italian tactician on the Moroccan centre-back, who has been suffering from a pubalgia. He won’t likely be over-utilised until the upcoming AFCON, joining the likes of Amine Gouiri, Facundo Medina, and Hamad Junior Traoré on OM’s injury list.

At the same, De Zerbi also confirmed that Facundo Medina will be out of action for a further month after suffering a setback in his recovery. “Medina has had a relapse. He is expected to be out of action for another month. He is difficult to replace, both because of his character and his physical attributes.”
