Try something different:
Show me the facts
Explain it like I’m 5
Give me a lighthearted recap
If you're looking for something new to play this week, Steam gamers can get their hands on an impressive selection of eight new games, all completely free.
2025 has been an absolutely ridiculous year for video games. I'm struggling to keep up with it all, to the extent I've only just gotten round to playing Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. I'm sure your backlog is a mess too, which is why I'm almost sorry to dump eight more free games on you.
If You've Got Steam, You Can Download These Free Games Now
No subscriptions, no strings attached
All you need to check out these new Steam freebies is a Steam account. It couldn't be much simpler. To be clear, these freebies aren't exactly AAA juggernauts. Don't go expecting Assassin's Creed or Call Of Duty. What you will get, however, is a selection of delightful little indies that would otherwise have flown under your radar. Shall we take a look?
The eight new free Steam games you can download this week are:
- Republic Of Jungle - A social deduction party game for between 5-10 players in which you must help (or hinder) president Puma's re-election campaign.
- Lightphobe - An asymmetrical team-based PVP game that blends stealth action with fast-paced shooter gameplay.
- Farlands: Tiny Harvest - An adorable-looking idle farming game with more than a touch of Stardew Valley about it.
- Your Very Last Words - A short, text-based interactive adventure with a striking visual style and a really cool concept: what would your last words be?
- Not My War - A top-down stealth-adventure game that's getting some really good reviews from those who've played. Definitely worth a look.
- Lucid Clowder - If you've ever wanted a low-poly shooter where cats blast each other, well... it's weird that you wanted that. But here it is, so I guess you win.
- Crusaders Quest Mini - Another idle game, this one is more of a Final Fantasy-style RPG. Very cute, very time-consuming (in a good way).
- Aftershock: Coastline - A short horror game with clear BioShock inspirations, but one with some strong reviews from gamers.
Those are the big ones for now, but it's worth noting there are new free games added to Steam almost every day.
Which Should You Play First?
Time is precious
It's really up to you which game you decide to go for first, if indeed you spend your time with any of them. Personally, I reckon if you like Stardew Valley (and who doesn't?) then you should take a look at Farlands. But it's completely your call. You could also spend time working through your current backlog and not add anymore games to the pile, but that doesn't sound like much fun.
We'll be sure to be back with more free Steam games next week, so until then, dive into the current crop and see what takes your fancy.
