GTA 6 Map Compared To GTA 5 Leaves Gamers Floored: "Damn"

GTA 6's map is rumored to be more than twice the size of GTA 5's Los Santos, with fans speculating on the possibilities of this massive open world.

Barring any further delays, it looks like we're now less than one year away from GTA 6's long-awaited launch. A lot could happen between now and November 19, of course, so let's all keep our expectations tempered as best we can.

Even so, it's hard not to let ourselves get a little excited, right? 2026 is the year we finally get GTA 6 (probably), and that's absolutely wild to think about. What's even more wild is the alleged size of the game's map in comparison to GTA 5.

GTA 6's Map Is Set To Be Massive

It's hard to know where we should explore first

It's worth noting right out of the gate that Rockstar Games has yet to officially show off GTA 6's map. With that said, dedicated fans have been working hard over the last few years to put together a pretty strong picture of what to expect. Using gameplay leaks, trailers, and screenshots, we have a pretty strong idea of the scope and size of Leonida.

Armed with this information, we're looking at a map that could be more than twice the size of GTA 5's Los Santos, which was itself already a pretty damn hefty world.

It's worth stressing again this has yet to be officially confirmed in any capacity, but based on everything we've seen and heard about GTA 6 over the past couple years, it's clear Rockstar is aiming to outdo itself.

Fans Are Imagining The Possibilities

And who can blame them?

Over on the GTA 6 subreddit, fans are enjoying speculating over a comparison between the GTA 6 and GTA 5 maps. The top comment got me particularly hyped, I have to say, as they pointed out GTA 6's larger map is likely to have the same level of immersion and unexpected encounters as Red Dead Redemption 2 — which, for my money, is probably the best open-world game currently around.

"The random encounters were so fun in RDR2," another fan agreed. "Take that, place it in GTA, make it just as good, if not, better, recipe for random encounters in an even bigger, denser and living world to feel so much better and immersive."

One gamer added: "If this game is like RDR2 but in GTA timeline and modern era, that would be truly next-gen, especially if it pulls off this kind of scale. RDR2 right now is the pinnacle of open world gameplay to me right now, hoping this game can top it and then some."

Given the amount of time GTA 6 has spent in the oven, I reckon it's more than up for giving Red Dead Redemption 2 a run for its money. Certainly, I feel confident in saying it's going to blow GTA 5 out of the water.
