Houston's defense dominated the game, sacking Allen eight times, the most of his career. The Texans continue to have the Bills' number, specifically in Houston, where Buffalo has struggled to find success in the Allen era.

While Allen has seemingly found success against the rest of the NFL, Houston's defense has found away to keep the 2024 MVP in check. While the entire Bills team struggled on Thursday night, Allen's inconsistency in Houston remains a theme.

Here's a look at how the Texans have found success against Allen since 2018.

Josh Allen record vs. Texans

Josh Allen is now 1-4 against the Texans, but 0-4 in NRG Stadium, a record dating back to Allen's rookie season. That includes one playoff game, a 2020 wild-card contest that Houston lost in overtime, and three regular season games.

In any of those four games, the Bills never scored more than 20 points, showing how the offense has had more issues in Houston than the defense. That includes in 2024, when the Bills lost to the Texans 23-20 amidst Allen's MVP season.

The Bills did beat the Texans in a 40-0 blowout in 2021, but that game came in Buffalo. Of the last nine matchups between these two teams, dating back to 2009, Houston is now 7-2, having won each of the last six home games against the Bills.

Allen's 1-4 overall record against the Texans is his second-worst by winning percentage against any NFL team, trailing just the Philadelphia Eagles, whom he's never beaten. While Allen has lost to both the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs more than four times, he does have eight and five wins against those teams, respectively.
