The Los Angeles Lakers won their fourth straight game on Sunday by scraping past the Utah Jazz, 108-106. The victory was their fourth in a row and improved their record to 12-4, which puts them in second place in the Western Conference.

However, just days after finally reaching full strength in terms of health when they welcomed LeBron James and Gabe Vincent back, they have a new health concern. Starting center Deandre Ayton didn't play in the second half and was ruled out due to a knee contusion. Jaxson Hayes and Maxi Kleber filled in adequately for him, but the Lakers will be in trouble if he has to miss any time.

After Sunday's contest, coach JJ Redick described how Ayton sustained his ailment, per ESPN.

"He had gotten hit on his leg in the first half and was kind of limping through it," Lakers coach JJ Redick said. "And then couldn't go in the second half."

Ayton had been getting into a very nice groove coming into Sunday. He had posted at least 20 points and 10 rebounds in each of his previous three games while going 29-of-37 from the field and grabbing a total of 40 rebounds during that time. Against the Jazz on Sunday, he mustered just two points, two rebounds and one steal in 13 minutes before he had to come out.

The Lakers have some key contests coming up. Their next two games will be Emirates NBA Cup group play matchups against the Los Angeles Clippers and Dallas Mavericks, and on Thursday, Dec. 4, they will begin a six-game road trip that includes games against teams such as the Toronto Raptors, Philadelphia 76ers and Phoenix Suns, all of which are squads that have thus far exceeded expectations this season.
