LAS VEGAS — The first significant consequence of the Raiders’ disastrous 2025 season has officially been levied. Offensive coordinator Chip Kelly was relieved of his duties following an anemic performance by his unit in a 24-10 loss to the Cleveland Browns.

The Raiders have yet to reach 30 points in a game this season and the offensive line gave up an astounding 10 sacks in Sunday’s loss. Kelly released a statement through Fox’s Jay Glazer following the move, where he expressed gratitude for his time with the team and with Geno Smith.

“I am grateful for the opportunity with the Raiders, bottom line in this league you have to win,” Kelly told Glazer. “I really loved those players, I’m a huge, HUGE Geno Smith fan, that was one of the best parts of this experience for me, working with Geno and those guys every day. But hey, we gotta win. I get it.”

While Kelly’s offense certainly wasn’t good enough to preserve his job for next season, it’s hard to make him too much of a scapegoat while Carroll’s two sons are occupying crucially underperforming positions in the coaching staff. Carroll’s eldest son Brennan coaches the team’s league-worst offensive line, and his youngest son Nathan is the assistant quarterback coach in a room that leads the entire NFL in interceptions.

The Raiders are set to travel to Los Angeles next week for a date with the Chargers that will kick off at 1:25 p.m. PST.
