Jahmyr Gibbs had himself a heck of a game in Detroit's overtime win over the New York Giants in Week 12. The Lions dynamic running back took the opening handoff of overtime 69 yards for a go-ahead touchdown, giving the host Lions their first lead of the game. Detroit's defense made it stand up in the 34-27 win.
The 69-yarder capped a historic day for Gibbs. The third-year running back finished the game with 219 rushing yards on 15 carries, scoring two touchdowns. Gibbs also tacked on another touchdown among his 11 receptions for 45 yards in the win.

Barry Sanders netted 253 (237 rushing, 16 receiving) in a 1994 win over the Buccaneers. It also makes Gibbs the first Lions RB other than Sanders to top 200 rushing yards in a game.
Some other marks set by Gibbs with the heroic effort in Week 12, courtesy of the NFL and the Lions PR:
First player to have at least three runs of 45 yards or more in one game
Ties Hall of Fame WR Randy Moss for the second-most career TDs (44) before turning 24. Only Barry Sanders (47) has more
Became the seventh player to hit 10 or more TDs in each of his first three seasons. The first five to do it are all in the Hall of Fame: Earl Campbell, Eric Dickerson, Barry Sanders, Emmitt Smith and LaDainian Tomlinson. The sixth, Adrian Peterson, is a surefire HOFer once he's eligible.
Is the first player since the 1970 AFL/NFL merger to post the following stats over a three-game span: 400 rushing yards, 4 rushing touchdowns, 180 receiving yards, 2 receiving touchdowns
Gibbs now has 950 rushing yards on the season, which (pending final Week 12 outcomes) ranks third. He's got a way to go to catch Jonathan Taylor of the Colts, who finished Week 12 with 1,197 rushing yards and also leads in TDs with 17. Gibbs now sits in second place with 13, a year after leading the league with 16.
For fantasy football, Gibbs scored 55.4 points in PPR formats, the highest single-game total for any player in 2025, according to ESPN.
