If there’s one Robin Williams performance that still brings people together decades later, it’s Mrs. Doubtfire. Heartfelt, chaotic, and packed with the kind of improv brilliance only Williams could deliver, the 1993 classic remains one of his greatest and most surprising triumphs — and now it’s easier than ever to revisit. Beginning December 1, the film will stream for free on Tubi, giving longtime fans and first-time viewers a chance to relive the comedian’s funniest and most touching big-screen turn.

Directed by Chris Columbus, Mrs. Doubtfire stars Williams as Daniel Hillard, a divorced dad who refuses to let distance — or a court order — keep him away from his kids. His unorthodox solution (that would probably get him canceled these days) is to transform himself into Euphegenia Doubtfire, a charming, elderly Scottish housekeeper, a hip old granny who can hip-hop, bebop, and dance until she drops. It’s the kind of premise that could only work with someone like Williams under the wig and prosthetics.

What Is 'Mrs. Doubtfire' About?

The story follows Daniel as he navigates this new disguise while watching his ex-wife Miranda (Sally Field) rebuild her life — including her growing relationship with Stu, played by Pierce Brosnan. Meanwhile, Daniel’s kids — portrayed by Lisa Jakub, Matthew Lawrence, and Mara Wilson — are caught between their parents’ messy split and a new man trying to play father figure. The result is a heartfelt portrait of a dad trying to hold onto his family in the only way he knows how, even if it means living a double life that spirals wildly out of control.

Now, admittedly, some YouTubers have reimagined the movie as a horror film, and you can kind of see why, but it's best for us to just enjoy it for the comedy that we got. Plus, it's a look at pre-James Bond Pierce Brosnan, who is portrayed as the man trying to worm his way into Miranda's bed when, in actually fact, he seems like a decent fella. See? Levels to this.

Whether you’re revisiting Williams’ iconic run as the world’s most chaotic nanny or experiencing his comedic genius for the first time, Mrs. Doubtfire remains one of the most joyful, warm-hearted movies of its era. And the whole thing is just a click away, as Mrs. Doubtfire starts streaming for free on Tubi beginning December 1.
