Even without top stars Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Musetti, Italy's players clinched a third consecutive Davis Cup title on Sunday.
The hosts won the finals event in Bologna 2–0 against Spain, securing the prestigious team competition for the third straight year after triumphs in 2023 and 2024.

However, the Davis Cup was still played in the challenge-round format at that time, meaning the defending champions were automatically qualified for the final.
Matteo Berrettini put Italy ahead with a 6–3, 6–4 victory over Pablo Carreño Busta. Flavio Cobolli then earned the second point by beating Jaume Munar 1–6, 7–6 (7–5), 7–5.
Spain had defeated the German team in the semifinals, while Italy had overcome Belgium.
Italy was without ATP champion Sinner and world number eight Musetti who had opted to end their seasons early. Spain had to do without world number one Carlos Alcaraz, who withdrew shortly before the tournament because of a thigh injury.
