Ariana Grande has officially said goodbye to her character in Wicked and its sequel, Wicked: For Good, Glinda, as the final installment to John M. Chu’s adaptation has been released.

In an Instagram post, Grande shared her final thoughts and feelings regarding saying goodbye to Glinda, Wicked, and the cast and crew who brought the highly esteemed Broadway play to life. The musician/actress referred to Oz as her "safe place" and recalled how she fell in love with Wicked when she was 10 years old.

This heartfelt letter comes days after she shared behind-the-scenes photos from filming Wicked alongside the caption, "thank you, my sweet Glinda, for everything. i will love you always ... Wicked For Good is out now ♡ 🫧" Grande has been very vocal about her desire to play the role throughout her career.

Grande’s co-star Cynthia Erivo, known for her role as Elphaba, also shared a touching tribute to her character with the caption:

I could write you an essay, a poem, Shakespearean prose, to describe what this journey has meant to me, what lessons this time has taught me, bought me. I could try to give a metric to the love I have felt and experienced. I could give a number to the stories I have heard. The truth is the numbers are too small and the words are not enough. So I’ll simply say this.

Take my hand and walk with me to the end of this road paved with gold and hopefully, the things that I’ve found, might find you too. Thank you for letting me be your Elphaba.

Wicked: For Good has been performing amazingly at the box office and has smashed the original movie’s record, and is projected to earn $226 million at the box office during its opening weekend. However, its reviews have not been as popular, with a current Rotten Tomatoes rating of 70% compared to Wicked, which has an 88% rating.

In a recent report from The Ankler, writer Rob Ledonne spoke about Stephen Schwartz, who wrote the Wicked music, and Wicked writer Winnie Holzman are "doing some work right now on ideas that aren’t a sequel to Wicked." It will follow the original Gregory Maguire novel, but won’t follow Elphaba and Glinda.

It’s unclear when or if this will come to fruition, but the wonderful world of Oz may yet see another magical tale brought to life.

Wicked: For Good is now playing in theaters.
