Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is among the best RPGs you'll play, despite it being one of the least discussed. The game originally launched in February 2024, but had a somewhat limited marketing push and slipped under most gamers' radars. Further, its release in 2024 alongside Metaphor: ReFantazio, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and various other popular RPGs likely had some impact as well—not to mention the trove of top-tier RPGs released this year to boot.

The game's lack of recognition certainly doesn't reflect its quality, however, with Banishers being hailed among players as an "underrated gem." Its story follows two spirit hunters tasked with freeing settlers from tormented ghosts. It blends narrative-driven exploration with action-RPG combat, letting players switch between characters, as well as physical attacks and spectral abilities.
