Seahawks superstar wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba is on pace for 2,004 receiving yards this season- a record-breaking pace that would supplant Calvin Johnson’s single-season receiving record of 1,964 yards. Today’s road matchup at the Tennessee Titans is a golden opportunity to gain ground.
While any NFL team will be chock full of elite athletes, we’ve already seen some of the best teams struggle to guard Smith-Njigba. Last month, he burnt the Jaguars double coverage for a long touchdown before catching Texans’ elite cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. flat-footed to get in the end zone again. With the matchup the Titans present, JSN can carve them up, fill his plate, and eat like Thanksgiving dinner.

They’ve given up 25 explosive plays- classified as 20+ yard receptions- to the position, good for 3rd worst in the league.
They began the season with L'Jarius Sneed, Jarvis Brownlee Jr, and Roger McCreary as their starting cornerbacks- but after Sneed went on injured reserve, they traded away Brownlee and McCreary. Now, they're left with backups holding the operation together.
JSN currently sits at 1,146 yards over 10 games. He’s only been held under 100 yards three times, and under 90 just once. Nothing is ever guaranteed in football, but this is as good of a matchup as there’ll be at the highest level this season. The game script can always go in unexpected directions, which is why we enjoy this sport so much. It seems just as likely he goes over 150 as it is that he stays under triple digits.
