Real Madrid star’s entourage deny any progress on renewal talks despite club’s insistence

The big news in Madrid on Saturday was the advancement of Real Madrid’s negotiations with Vinicius Jr over a contract renewal.

After reaching a deadlock in February, the two parties had reportedly agreed to move past their differences and work towards signing an extension, for both the player and the club saw it as the natural path forward.

Just when it appeared that the Vinicius renewal saga may be reaching a culmination, however, COPE provide an update that virtually kills the party.

No progress has been made

As relayed by the outlet, Vinicius’ representatives have confirmed that there are no updates regarding their client’s renewal with Real Madrid in recent days and that the situation continues to be the same.

In fact, they state that there has been no communication at all with the club since before the summer nor has a date been fixed for further discussions. The situation is thus at the status quo.

The player’s entourage also reportedly state that the situation is ‘not as beautiful’ as is being portrayed by the club through the media and that everything has been abandoned to discuss and handle in the summer.

Needless to say, the situation is complicated because Vinicius’ contract runs out in 2027 and Real Madrid handed him an extension offer earlier this year – one that he turned down for being economically inferior to his expectations.

The club maintain that no player is above the institution and that they will not bend to the player’s whims and fancies, but Vinicius and his entourage remain firm on their demands.

There is no urgent need to press for talks at the moment, but Real Madrid will be under pressure once the next summer window arrives for he will then have just a year on his contract.

That, precisely, could well be the player’s game plan to get the raise he demands.
