There are plenty of great, terrifying villains in My Hero Academia, and one has just cemented himself as not only the best in the series, but the best in anime.
The series is centered around heroes and villains, and it does a great job of making the antagonists feel just as complex as the protagonists. My Hero Academia might be the best series in general at including a wide array of profound villains who are almost too relatable, making them feel almost too real.
There are a ton of amazing villains in anime, and they're defined as amazing through a couple of undeniable qualities. To be truly evil, a villain needs to be capable of great harm. They also need to be competent, harmful, and menacing, and this villain from My Hero Academia is all three and more.
My Hero Academia Is Top-Tier, and It's Undebatable
The Past Few Seasons Are Untouchable
My Hero Academia has always been a great series, but the past few seasons have truly taken the hero-based anime to another level. It's easily one of the best modern-day shōnen series, and the final season is making an argument that it might be better than its competition.
The final season of My Hero Academia ties together every loose storyline masterfully. As always, series creator Kohei Horikoshi does exceptionally well at making sure each side character is more than a plot device. The side characters, including the villains, have their own real, tangible ambitions and goals, earning their spot within the series.
The final season of My Hero Academia has also taken what worked about the series up a few notches. The fights are absurdly good, and characters like Bakugo have never looked better. Bakugo might be the star of the single greatest episode of the franchise, taking on the strongest villain in it with a smile on his face.
Sure, Frieza Is Evil...
There Are Plenty of Great Villains in Anime
There are a ton of great villains in anime. From Frieza in Dragon Ball Z to Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen, anime has had no shortage of domineering, vicious, and bloodthirsty villains who are willing to do whatever it takes to have their way.
The Ant King is one of the most exciting villains of the past few years. He's one of the only characters in Solo Leveling stronger than S-Class Hunters, making short work of the best Japanese Hunters in the series. If it wasn't for Sung Jinwoo's unreal abilities, he would've terrorized an entire continent.
Frieza is almost always seen as the best villain in anime, and it's easy to see why. He's a major part of one of the greatest anime franchises in the history of the genre, pushing Goku past his limits on several occasions. While Frieza is certainly in a league of his own, even he has nothing on the best villain from My Hero Academia.
... But He's Nowhere Near as Evil as All For One
All For One Is the Pinnacle of Villainy
All for One uses a special potion, rewinding his injuries.
All For One is so evil that it can be hard to understand. He's evil on an entirely different level than other villains. While other villains use force to get their way, usually taking advantage of the powers they were born with, All For One is more. He's methodical and pragmatic, operating like a general during wartime.
He's been the primary antagonist of all heroes in Japan for generations. Most villains are lucky if they get to be the strongest villain for a few years, and All For One has been king for decades. Not only does he have the single strongest Quirk in My Hero Academia, he's also one of the smartest characters in the franchise.
Out of all of his most impressive feats, nothing is more impressive and downright captivating than his creation and manipulation of Tomura Shigaraki. Shigaraki was the main antagonist for most of the series, and even he didn't know that he was nothing more than a puppet for All For One to manipulate.
All For One manipulated his existence before he was born. He manipulated his father into taking his rage out on his son, breaking him mentally. He also gave him his famous Decay Quirk, taking away the ability to reverse it as well.
There May Never Be a Villain as Machiavellian as All For One
He's Setting the Standard for True Evilness
All for One, restored by Rewind to his prime.
All For One is a master manipulator on a level almost never seen in anime, or any form of entertainment in general. He created Shigaraki from the bottom up, questioning whether Shigaraki can even be considered a villain anymore.
He used his pupil as a vessel for his powers, taking away his consciousness and manifesting himself in Shigaraki's body after his supposed death. Even then, after dying once, All For One hadn't given up on his goals in the slightest.
He's a genius in and out of battle, a person willing to turn on anyone, and one of the few villains patient enough to let his plans work themselves out. There are plenty of magnificently terrible villains in anime, but none of them are as dastardly as All For One in My Hero Academia.
