SPOILERS for Solo Leveling's manhwa!Jinwoo’s rise in Solo Leveling stands as one of the most thrilling and compelling aspects of the series. Beginning as the world’s weakest Hunter, his arc is full of relentless training and countless battles, with each new challenge becoming a new way to measure his strength as he becomes one of the most powerful S-rank Hunters.
His meteoric growth turned what once seemed like impossible odds into opportunities to demonstrate his evolved skill and powers, with his defeat against the Ant King standing out as his most impressive feat in the anime yet. However, Solo Leveling is far from over, and Jinwoo has yet to come across the most powerful adversary he will ever confront.
The Monarch of Destruction Is Jinwoo’s Most Powerful Adversary
After the Jeju Island arc, the story will continue to expand beyond human conflicts, culminating in the Final Battle arc against Antares, the Monarch of Destruction and King of Dragons. With his power, he commands an authority unlike anything seen in Solo Leveling, significantly dwarfing even other Monarchs and Rulers in raw power.
Antares’s arrival shifts the power balance in the series entirely as he commands legions capable of overwhelming cities within moments. He shows a blatant disregard for human life and suffering, going as far as destroying Canada in order to force Jinwoo to fight, making him both a dangerous and fearsome adversary.
As the leader of the Monarchs, his ultimate goal is the annihilation of humanity to ensure the survival of his own race in the ancient war against the Rulers. Despite his lack of empathy, Antares isn’t completely without honor, swearing to Jinwoo mid-battle that he will allow humanity to survive should Jinwoo agree to fight with him against the Rulers.
The Rulers Prevent Antares From Defeating Jinwoo
Antares and Jinwoo from Solo leveling manhwa
As the final antagonist in Solo Leveling, Antares stands out as the most formidable opponent Jinwoo has ever taken on. While Jinwoo managed to use Shadow Exchange to move their battle onto isolated foreign soil, any other attack harmlessly slid off Antares, with the Monarch of Destruction effortlessly countering every move.
When Jinwoo refused Antares’ offer to spare humanity, the latter became increasingly agitated, threatening to tear Jinwoo apart if he didn’t submit. Until this point, every one of Jinwoo’s attacks had zero effect on Antares; however, what Antares failed to realize was that Jinwoo had other plans to defeat him with the help of the Rulers.
Before Antares could land a killing blow after a devastating strike from Jinwoo, the Rulers defeated him, making them victorious against the Monarchs once again and sparing Jinwoo’s life. Had the Rulers not intervened, Jinwoo likely would have lost the battle against Antares. Despite his immense growth throughout the series, none of it was enough to kill the other Monarch.
While Jinwoo’s endurance is an impressive feat on its own, Antares stands out as one of the most powerful beings in Solo Leveling, requiring the combined efforts of Jinwoo and the Rulers to put a stop to his destruction. Even with Jinwoo’s expansive shadow army, powerful soldiers, and seemingly unstoppable strength, it wasn’t enough to defeat the Monarch of Destruction.
