Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Theory - Luke Cage & Iron Fist Return To MCU

Daredevil: Born Again season 2 already contains one half of Netflix’s Defenders team, with an MCU theory claiming the other half isn’t far behind.

Daredevil: Born Again season 2 will see the return of Iron Fist and Luke Cage to the MCU if this theory is to be believed. The release date for Daredevil: Born Again season 2 has been confirmed for March 4, 2026. This will see the show continue after Daredevil: Born Again season 1's cliffhanger ending.

With everything the final episode of season 1 teased, the main discussions around Daredevil: Born Again season 2 are linked to the cast members. There are those who wish to see Tom Holland's Spider-Man team up with Daredevil against Kingpin, while others want to see Netflix's Defenders timeline continue in a big way.

Thanks to one confirmed member of Daredevil: Born Again season 2's cast and a big MCU theory, fans of Netflix's shows may get their wish.

Firstly, it is worth exploring how exactly Daredevil: Born Again season 1 teases the Defenders' inclusion in season 2. In the final episode, it is revealed that Kingpin, now Mayor Fisk, is looking to turn the port of Red Hook into his own city-state. Daredevil enlists several allies to push back against Fisk's play for power, stating he is forming an army.

After teaming up with Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist in The Defenders, there are not many more logical choices to be part of Daredevil's army. All three of the other Defenders are based in New York, meaning their lives will be impacted by Fisk's authoritarian regime.

Therefore, Daredevil: Born Again season 1's ending teased the return of the Defenders as part of Matt's ongoing rebellion against Mayor Fisk.

These teases were solidified when it was confirmed that Jessica Jones would have a role in Daredevil: Born Again season 2. Krysten Ritter's return was revealed shortly after Daredevil: Born Again season 1's finale aired, reuniting the two characters for the first time since The Defenders.

This only made the theories that more characters from Netflix's Marvel timeline would appear in the show stronger. Jessica Jones' role in Daredevil: Born Again season 2 has been fleshed out by the show's producer, Sana Amanat. Amanat insisted that Jones can be dark and dramatic if needed, while also having the ability to "cut through the BS" of those around her.

This was shown in The Defenders, with Jones often poking fun at Matt Murdock for his more overt vigilante tendencies. This will undoubtedly continue in Daredevil: Born Again season 2 as two of the Defenders reunite in the MCU timeline.

Daredevil Season 2 Is Hiding The Returns Of Luke Cage And Iron Fist – Theory Explained

However, the theories do not stop there. Another major theory about Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is that the show is hiding Luke Cage and Iron Fist, the Defenders teammates of Jessica Jones and Matt Murdock. Of all the characters in The Defenders, it seemed most likely that Jones was going to return to the MCU at some point.

Jessica Jones was the only other Netflix show besides Daredevil that received three seasons, with most matching the quality of the latter. Iron Fist and Luke Cage had more rocky productions, though, especially the former. This means that audiences are not certain whether they will return to the MCU, despite theories that they will join Matt's army.

For this reason, it would make sense for Daredevil: Born Again season 2 to hide the inclusion of Luke Cage and Iron Fist. This would make their appearances all the more surprising, given the uncertainty surrounding their comebacks, all while making sense for the story at hand. If this theory comes true, all four Defenders will be together once more.

Why Danny Rand And Luke Cage Deserve To Return To The MCU

Theories aside, Iron Fist and Luke Cage deserve to return to the MCU. Mike Colter was great as Luke Cage, and both seasons of his show worked. Iron Fist was more of a mixed bag, but this was hardly Finn Jones' fault, and the character himself had promise. With the Defenders timeline seemingly being more important to the MCU than ever, both deserve another shot at things.

Having all four characters back with the budget and scale of MCU productions, and the strong direction in which Daredevil: Born Again is heading, promises big things from Defenders' characters. Luke Cage and Iron Fist deserve the chance to capitalize on this as much as Jessica Jones and Daredevil, regardless of the latter two being more popular.

Hopefully, Daredevil: Born Again season 2 will include all four characters again for the first time, giving each one an equal chance to reestablish themselves as important, well-written MCU characters.
