Nov. 22—RAPID CITY — Gavyille-Volin claimed Class B fifth-place honors with a 3-0 sweep over Parkston on Saturday afternoon at the state volleyball tournament at Summit Arena. Set scores were 25-8, 26-24 and 25-21.

Gayville-Volin finishes the season with a record of 32-5, while Parkston claims sixth place in the state tournament with a final record of 31-8.

The Raiders were led by 15 kills from Maia Achen and eight kills from Aliza Westrum. Kendra Beeck had 23 assists and two aces, and Taylor Hoxeng had 31 digs. G-V finished with a 39-19 edge in kills and 97-79 in digs.

Parkston was led by Keeara Oakley's 11 kills, 20 digs and five total blocks. Berkley Ziebart had 23 digs, while Finley Bogenreif had 18 assists, and Addison Koehn had 15 digs.

Two of the top-10 teams in Class B seed points entering the postseason, the squads are in the same Region 4B but did not meet this season prior to Saturday's match.

RAPID CITY — Rapid City Christian topped Wagner for seventh-place at the Class A state volleyball tournament in a 3-0 sweep at Summit Arena. The Comets won 25-12, 25-16 and 25-12.

Rapid City Christian (30-13) rang up 18 aces at the service line in the match, including five from Chloe Weber, four from Maddie Altstiel and three from Faith King. Chloe Weber finished with 13 kills, while King finished with eight kills, 19 assists and nine digs and seven kills from Miley Johnson.

Wagner, seeded eighth at the state tournament after being No. 12 in the SoDak 16, was led by Brylie Link's five kills, with four each from Braxton Nedved and Ashlyn Koupal. Nedved had 13 assists and Libby Kotab had six digs. Hannah Holzbauer and Brianna Fuchs each had two aces. Rapid City Christian finished with a 35-19 edge in total kills and a 7-1 margin in total team blocks.

Wagner's season ends with a record of 24-10.
