UAB offensive lineman Daniel Mincey, a former Kentucky Wildcats reserve, was arrested Saturday after allegedly stabbing two defensive linemen on the Blazers’ roster, according to AL.com.
The incident happened only hours before UAB was set to take the field against South Florida at Protective Stadium.

The incident occurred on a game day and involved multiple members of the team. Details surrounding what led up to the altercation have not yet been released, and UAB has not issued a formal statement on Mincey’s status with the program.
Mincey’s name rings familiar to Kentucky fans. His older brother, Gerald Mincey, spent last season with the Wildcats and made headlines when he was spotted grabbing snacks at the concession stand during the Kentucky vs. Louisville game. Gerald was injured, but still an active player at the time, which made it a viral moment. Daniel transferred soon after Gerald’s departure.
Now, the younger Mincey faces severe legal trouble that could alter the course of his football future. Further updates will come as more information becomes available in the investigation.
