Lane Johnson could return for the Week 15 matchup vs. the Raiders

The Eagles are 8-2 and the top team in the NFC, but that stronghold on the top seed will be tested as Lane Johnson could miss the next three or four weeks with a foot injury. Johnson suffered an ankle injury early in the second quarter of Philadelphia's game against Detroit at Lincoln Financial Field.

Johnson was initially diagnosed with a Lisfranc injury, and the thought was that the Eagles' star right tackle could miss 4-6 weeks. Jeff McLane of The Inquirer reports that Johnson could return in less than 4 weeks, which explains why Philadelphia didn't place him on injured reserve.

McLane hints at Johnson missing games against Dallas, Chicago, and the Los Angeles Chargers before returning to face the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 15.

What do we know about Lisfranc injuries?

The Cleveland Clinic describes Lisfranc injuries as "anything that damages the Lisfranc joint at the top of your foot" and includes dislocations, fractures, and sprains. Johnson may need to wear a boot or cast for several weeks. Severe injuries may require surgery.

Johnson is one of the most dominant run blockers in the NFL, and with Fred Johnson moving into the lineup, Philadelphia could look to run the football more, taking away some of the pressure on quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Games Johnson could miss

Philadelphia plays Dallas on Sunday, then hosts the Chicago Bears at Lincoln Financial Field on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. After the mini-bye, the Eagles will travel to Los Angeles to face the Chargers and then host the Raiders. If Johnson misses more than four weeks, he'd be in jeopardy of missing the first game against Washington and Buffalo before potentially sitting out the season finale.

Entering Week 11, Johnson is one of only two NFL tackles with a 0.0% knockdown percentage (0 sacks, 0 QB hits allowed), joining Tytus Howard.

With Johnson out, the versatile Fred Johnson will replace him at the right tackle position, while Matt Pryor could become the extra tight end.
