Kaden Wetjen sets new Iowa football return touchdowns record

Kaden Wetjen stands alone in the Iowa football history books.

With his latest electric jaunt to pay dirt against Michigan State, Wetjen passed Iowa legend Tim Dwight for the most career return touchdowns in Hawkeye history.

After nearly housing a punt in the first quarter with a 45-yard return to the Michigan State 44-yard-line, Wetjen got loose again on his next return.

Wetjen reeled in a Ryan Eckley punt at the Iowa 38-yard-line, split an initial pair of would-be tacklers, dashed through another pair of Spartans, juked Eckley and slipped out of one final tackler to complete the 62-yard punt return touchdown for immortality.

It's Wetjen's sixth return touchdown at Iowa, his fourth career punt return touchdown and his third this season. The 5-foot-10, 196-pound graduate senior registered a 95-yard punt return touchdown against UMass in Week 3 and a 50-yard punt return touchdown against Minnesota in Week 9.

Wetjen also had a 100-yard kickoff return touchdown at Rutgers in Week 4 of this season.

In the 2024 season, Wetjen notched an 85-yard punt return touchdown against Northwestern and a 100-yard kickoff return touchdown against Missouri in Iowa's bowl game.
