UofL desperately needs to find a consistent third scoring option or risk continuing to fall short in matchups like its 72-62 loss to the Wildcats on Saturday at the KFC Yum! Center.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementRoberts and Ziegler entered tied for the scoring lead for the Cards, each holding a 14-point average through the first five games.
After the Cats jumped to an 11-2 lead, Roberts powered the Cards in the first half, scoring 19 of her game-high 22 points.
Ziegler, who scored 18, started off the third quarter missing three of her first four attempts. The scoring dried up for Roberts, too, allowing UK to outscore the Cards 20-6 in the third period and take control.
Take away Roberts and Ziegler's combined 16-of-33 shooting, and the rest of the Cards shot a collective 9 for 30.
UofL guard Reyna Scott, who entered averaging 10 points per game, was never a factor on offense. She finished with four points on 2-of-7 shooting.
