The Cleveland Browns are entering a new era, once again, as they get set to take on the Las Vegas Raiders, as quarterback Shedeur Sanders making his first NFL start.

To say it did not go well for him in his debut against the Baltimore Ravens a week ago is an understatement. Sanders went just 4-of-16 passing with an interception in the Browns' loss. However, there is a big difference between preparing as a backup and getting thrown into the middle of the game and being gameplanned for and preparing as the starting quarterback.

And it appears that Sanders knows this might be his only chance to make an impression on the Browns, who are in a position to select a quarterback very high in the 2026 NFL draft. So, how is Sanders preparing for this opportunity? According to The Athletic's Diana Russini, Sanders is not flinching.

She has spoken to a Browns' player inside the building who has stated that Sanders is preparing for this game "like a final exam he can’t fail." Russini highlights Sanders having his iPad on him at all times and watching Raiders tape, including during lunch in the facility cafeteria.

Russini closed with these final remarks:

"Sanders has done everything possible to prepare, I’ve been told. He’s not in the league simply to fill a roster spot; he’s here to make a statement. Sunday isn’t just a first start. It’s Sanders’ opportunity to rewrite the narrative, and he’s determined to do just that — even if not many people believe he’ll be able to do it."

There is a lot at stake for Sanders. More so than the team that he plays for, which can move on to another quarterback this offseason, and is in a position to do so. Here is to hoping Sanders does rewrite that narrative.
