Defending champion Liverpool was routed 3-0 at home by Nottingham Forest and has now lost six of their seven league games, falling to 11th in the table after the day's games. City, meanwhile, lost 2-1 on the road against Newcastle United.

"It's a problem," Liverpool captain Van Dijk told Sky Sports after the loss. "Everyone in the team has to take responsibility... We have to digest this and take it on the chin."
