Grand Theft Auto 4, much like the original Halo trilogy and other landmark titles, will always be one of those "forever games." People will still be talking about it decades later, especially given how widely popular it was and how many units it sold throughout its lifetime. Naturally, modders are still actively reinventing the game in their own way, as we wait for the inevitable remake down the line.
That includes this wonderful-looking graphics overhaul, found over on the Digital Dreams YouTube channel. Billed as an "RTX Remix Pathtracing Community Remaster," this project revamps all of the visuals from the ground up.
GTA 4 Is Still A Firm Fan Favorite
It'll Always Be A Classic For Fans

Grand Theft Auto 4 will never die, especially when the tireless modding community is on the case. The RTX Remix Pathtracing Community Remaster reinvents the entire game, giving it a massive graphical overhaul that looks starkly different compared to the original, which was released in 2008. In short, the game adds path tracing, and completely revamps everything visually, including the lightning system. You can take a look at it for yourself with the video below.
At the moment, there's no release date for when the RTX Remix Pathtracing Community Remaster will come out, as it's a work in progress. You can get the latest updates from community modder xoxor4d.
GTA 6 Is Still Nearly A Year Away
The Next Generation Of GTA Is So Close Yet So Far
GTA 6 suited character next to popular spot in Vice City
Grand Theft Auto 6 is still roughly a year away, which is wild to think about in the context of the series as a whole. GTA has been around since 1997, and in a 3D format since 2001. Technology has come so far, and even with how little Rockstar has shown us of GTA 6, things look to be improving exponentially from a graphical standpoint.
But no matter how technologically advanced GTA 6 is, GTA 4 will remain in the conversation as one of the best in the series by many fans. For me, that honor is reserved for San Andreas.
