Wisconsin cornerback Nyzier Fourqurean took to social media Friday to share the news that he is dismissing his lawsuit against the NCAA, officially concluding his college career.

The veteran cornerback filed the lawsuit back in February, arguing that his two years at D-II Grand Valley State should not count against the NCAA's four years of eligibility. The move followed a similar lawsuit from current Vanderbilt and former junior college quarterback Diego Pavia, who successfully argued for an extra year of eligibility.

"Today, I authorized my lawyers to dismiss my lawsuit against the NCAA, as I could no longer keep my coaches and teammates waiting for a decision from the judge," Fourqurean wrote on X. "Very disappointing. My lawyers did everything the judge asked them to do. The judge knew I wanted to play this year and told me on a hearing call that he would rule in the last week of September during our bye week. He never did. My coaches, teammates and I waited and waited, and still nothing from the judge since. My lawyers sent a request for a hearing to the judge and he ignored it. I am thankful for Coach (Luke) Fickell and all of UW for sticking with me and making me as much of a member of the team as they could. I have been able to practice and be around the team as normal and have improved tremendously over the year. With huge goals for myself and this team, I am super disappointed to not be able to make a positive impact for our team on the field. I look forward to my pro day and an opportunity with an NFL team."

Fourqurean was granted a preliminary injunction after filing his lawsuit in February, though he lost a later appeal. The trial was then pushed back into 2026. As mentioned, Fourqurean sought a further injunction that would have enabled him to play while the case was pending, though he had been waiting all season for the judge to rule on the issue.

Fourqurean appeared in 24 games over two seasons with the Badgers, totaling 90 tackles, 5 1/2 for loss, two sacks, one interception and seven pass deflections. With just two games left in the 2025 season, his focus will now turn to preparing for the upcoming NFL draft.
