Give me a lighthearted recap
Surely there can't be a more sorry lot in all of gaming than Bloodborne fans. And I feel like I can say this with some confidence, given I am a Bloodborne fan, and nobody is more sorry than me.
Despite releasing in 2015 and remaining one of the most critically acclaimed video games of all-time, PlayStation treats Bloodborne like an unwanted stepchild that's forced to sleep in the washing machine and eat old socks.
PlayStation Really Doesn't Care
But the fans will never give up
In the last 10 years fans have dreamed of sequels, PC ports, even a basic 60fps upgrade for Bloodborne on PlayStation 5. None of this has happened, of course. But rather than give up on the dream, Bloodborne fans convince themselves that the next big gaming event is where they'll see what they've been waiting for. And Hollow Knight: Silksong fans thought they were hard-done by.
Over on the FromSoftware subreddit, fans were recently once again discussing whether they'd rather have a full-blown sequel or a remake/remaster. Personally, I'd go for both, because I am a very greedy boy.
"I just want confirmed news," the top comment reads. Which, let's be honest, sums up the feelings of Bloodborne fans around the world.
Naturally, this led to the usual speculation that the next big gaming event on the calendar could see our dreams come true. December 11 is The Game Awards, and there are sure to be some big surprises there. Heck, last year's saw The Witcher 4 and a sequel to Okami revealed. You'd think a Bloodborne remaster wouldn't be quite so far out of the question by comparison.
2025 Marks Bloodborne's 10th Anniversary
End of the road?
Given that 2025 marks the 10th anniversary of Bloodborne, The Game Awards really is the last possible chance for a proper announcement. Because let's face it, if PlayStation doesn't think the 10th anniversary is worth a remaster or remake, we're never getting one.
Not that such thinking will ever stop Bloodborne die-hards from giving up on their one true love. No, they're going to mark December 11 in their calendars and put their clown makeup on, just like they always do. And I'll be right there with them. I look forward to pretending to be shocked when The Last Of Us gets another remaster instead.
