The offseason is starting to ramp up, as the 40-man Rule 5 protection deadline passed on Tuesday, as well as the non-tender deadline on Friday. The Colorado Rockies protected LHP Welinton Herrera, RHP Gabriel Hughes and OF Sterlin Thompson. They also DFA’d 1B Michael Toglia and LHP Ryan Rolison. The former was non-tendered on Friday, and the latter was traded to the Atlanta Braves for cash considerations on Wednesday. The Rockies also came to terms with all of their remaining arbitration-eligible players.
The Winter Meetings are quickly approaching, and we will get a full grasp of what Paul DePodesta’s vision is for this team.
