On Friday afternoon, the Denver Broncos announced an extension had been reached with kicker Wil Lutz for three more years, and he’ll be with the team until 2028.

While we do not know the financial specifics yet, Lutz has certainly earned his extension. Since coming to the Broncos via trade in 2023, Lutz has made several big kicks, including five game-winning kicks in 2025.

Lutz is coming off AFC Special Teams Player of the Month in October, and has also earned AFC Special Teams Player of the Week in both 2024 and 2025, the most recent honor coming against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 11.

Lutz has become an essential part of the Broncos' success in recent years. Lutz has played with head coach Sean Payton his whole career, and is comfortable in the big moment. In 2025 thus far, Lutz is 17-of-20 on field goals, and a perfect 24-of-24 on extra point attempts.

Lutz commented on his extension on X.

The Broncos keep a key teammate and player. Lutz is sure to be a huge factor in the coming weeks and seasons. Congratulations, Wil!
