Real Madrid secured all three points on their visit to San Mames last night, thanks to a 3-0 victory over Athletic Club.

The result ended their three-game winless streak in La Liga and allowed them to stay within one point of league leaders Barcelona.

However, it came at a cost as the team’s only fit natural right-back, Trent Alexander-Arnold, suffered an injury.

Trent could be done for 2025

Now, according to Jose Luis Sanchez of El Chiringuito TV, pending tests, there is concern within the Real Madrid camp that Trent could be out for the rest of 2025.

Trent started the game at right-back and got the assist for Kylian Mbappe’s goal in the first period. The summer signing, however, had to be taken off in the 55th minute due to a thigh injury.

While the England international will undergo tests later today to determine the nature and the full extent of the injury, there is concern and pessimism surrounding his injury.

The initial feeling is that Trent could be facing a significant time on the sidelines and that he might not play again until the end of the year.

It would mean that the right-back would stand to miss the upcoming matches against Celta Vigo, Manchester City, Alaves and Sevilla over the coming weeks.

This comes as a major setback for Trent, who was finally starting to grow into his role at Real Madrid after a slow start marred by injury.

The right-back has already missed six matches this season due to a hamstring injury. So far in 2025/26, he has made 11 appearances, registering a solitary assist.

A clearer picture of his condition should emerge later today when he undergoes medical examinations at the club’s medical facilities.
